As we enter Summer of 2017 and we start slowing down to enjoy the summer, BC Auto Careers is speeding up! BCASA has made positive steps in profiling the need for talent in the automotive industry. The first part of the year was busy with events, planning 10 presentations and a launch into content marketing in starting to building our online presence.

BC Auto Careers was proud to attend and exhibit at six (6) events from November through to May. The largest event we attended was the Vancouver International Auto Show. The show provided BCASA an opportunity to engage with thousands of people to profile the opportunities within the industry as well as help us connect industry businesses looking to hire. Other events included the Delta Trade and Technical Fair -where our mechanic simulator was very popular and the Langley Extreme Career Fair. Over the summer, BCASA will be exhibiting and partnering at many more events, and we invite you to join us. Sign up to our employer newsletter to keep up to date on how you can get involved with our events.

Planning 10 Presentations

The Planning 10 Presentations in partnership with the Vehicle Sales Authority (VSA) have come to a close for this year. Since May 2015, we have Delivered 50 presentations in 13 schools and reached 4,200 students. In the 2016 fall semester, we reached 2,200 students, or 4% of B.C. Grade 10 students. Overall the evaluations of the two presentations have been very positive from students, teachers and school district career professionals.

Our presentations emphasized the opportunity in this sector, including the estimated 30,000 job openings in the next five years as well as the competitive advantages of working in the industry including:

  • Competitive wages
  • Great opportunities for both men and women
  • Jobs are driven by computers and innovative technology
  • Steady, non-seasonal employment in your community
  • Career paths to management and business ownership

Moving forward, we are seeking to change the format of these presentations to reach all schools throughout the province. The presentation will be an easy to use and accessible online platform, with gamifying attributes making it much more interactive and engaging, as well as allow us to work in partner with industry members in the local community to present.
